Data Quality overview
The Dedupe Console finds duplicate records and merges them safely. Detection runs on your backup snapshots — never on your live org — so scanning millions of records costs you zero Salesforce API calls and can't disturb production. Only the final merge, if you choose to run one, writes to Salesforce.
Finding duplicates
Open Data Quality → Dedupe Console in the sidebar. Detection is configured in the right-hand Detection setup panel, in three numbered steps.
Winner rules and field rules
Two kinds of rules automate the decisions a merge involves: which record survives (winner rules) and which values it ends up with (field rules). Both are optional — you can also just crown a keeper by hand in each group.
