Metadata Change Tracker overview
The Metadata Change Tracker watches your org's configuration and code. On every capture it takes a full snapshot of your metadata — objects, fields, Flows, Apex, validation rules, layouts, profiles, and more — and works out exactly what changed since the last capture.
Create a tracker
A tracker watches one org. Go to Metadata Change Tracker and click New Metadata tracker.
Reviewing changes
Open a tracker and pick a capture with the run picker — each capture is dated (the newest carries a Latest badge), and a Jump to a date field shows the run captured on or before any day you pick. The capture page has two tabs: Metadata changes and Browse metadata. This page covers the first; see Browsing your metadata for the other.
Browsing your metadata
The Browse metadata tab turns any capture into a complete, explorable copy of your org's configuration — a file browser for your metadata. It's the tab a baseline capture opens on, since a baseline has no changes to show yet.
Searching inside metadata
Content search greps through the source of every component in a capture. It answers the question that Salesforce Setup can't: "which metadata actually uses this field / this URL / this label?"
