Cloud Storage

By default, backups are stored in bluefactory's managed, encrypted storage. With Cloud Storage (Enterprise plan), you can bring your own bucket so backup data lands directly in cloud storage you control — your keys, your region, your retention.

Supported destinations​

  • Amazon S3
  • Azure Blob Storage

Adding a destination​

  1. Go to Settings → Cloud Storage and click Add destination.
  2. Fill in the destination:
    • Name — a label to identify this destination across your backups (e.g. Production archive).
    • Type — AWS S3 or Azure Blob.
    • Region — where your bucket/container lives.
    • Bucket / container — its name.
  3. Enter the credentials (access key and secret key). They are encrypted at rest and never displayed again after saving.
  4. Optionally set the folder layout — prefixes used to organize each backup type inside the bucket: an objects folder, a files folder, and a metadata folder.
  5. Click Add destination.

Once configured, backups can use the destination for their snapshots.

Why bring your own storage?​

  • Data residency — keep backups in a region and account your policies require.
  • Ownership — your data sits in infrastructure you administer, under your own access controls and retention rules.
  • Compliance — some regulations and customer contracts require data to remain within your cloud tenancy.
